Junior Band

1977 saw the formation of a junior section, this was to give extra tuition to the younger members of the band.   From the initial group of four children the junior band has grown into an independent group of 30 players. The group is called the junior band but as you will see does include more senior members; these are mainly parents who have brought their children to learn and decided to take up an instrument themselves. We do encourage anyone to play and as time goes by these players will be the foundation of the senior band.

Over the past 29 years the junior section has seen over 300 players pass through its ranks.

Recently a learners group has also been formed with 10 potential musicians, the youngest being just 6 years old.

If anyone would like to come along to learn an instrument our rehearsals are on Sunday mornings with the learners at 9.00a.m. and the junior band following on at 10.30 until 12.15p.m.  Instruments are available.
Senior band rehearsals are Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 8.00p.m. You are most welcome to come along and listen.

The Association is self-funding and relies on donations and subscriptions from organisations and individuals as well as a busy schedule of over fifty-five concerts and fund raising events throughout the year.

If you would like to book either of the bands then please contact Mrs Jane Clay on 01422 201875 or e-mail john366clay@btinternet.com
